A violent and debauched love triangle between a married man, his wife, and his brother-in-law is interrupted by an otherworldly being. Unpacking issues of male chauvinism, homophobia, and sexual repression in Mexico, the film features an extraterrestrial octopus whose phallic tentacles feed on the pleasure it produces in humans. Making no concessions to Hollywood formalities, shows the ways that desire itself can be destructive, rather than centering on the police’s pursuit of this alien.
