Creativity meets workers rights at “La Historia de Rossana” a novela that recreates some of the numerous challenges that immigrant workers face in New York City’s precarious labor market: fraudulent agencies charging money for job mis-placements, abusive employers, wage theft, unsafe working conditions and gender related issues in the male-dominated construction industry. This story is performed by workers themselves, members of the New Immigrant Community Empowerment (NICE) directed by artist Gabriela Ceja with the support of organizer Maritza Ortiz. Come join us and meet these brave workers-actors representing themselves as they fight for labor justice!

La creatividad y los derechos laborales se encuentran en “La Historia de Rossana”, una novela que recrea algunos de los numerosos retos que los trabajadores migrantes encuentran en el precario mercado laboral de Nueva York: agencias fraudulentas que cobran por malas colocaciones, empleadores abusivos, robo de salario, condiciones inseguras de trabajo y asuntos de género en la industria de la construcción aún dominada por el género masculino. Esta historia es actuada por los mismos trabajadores, miembros de New Immigrant Community Empowerment (NICE); dirigida por la artista Gabriela Ceja con el apoyo de la organizadora Maritza Ortiz.
