In partnership with the Queens Museum and Jazz at Lincoln Center, Grameen PrimaCare (GPC) is hosting Walk For Your Health for the community of Queens.  We will walk through Flushing Meadows Corona Park to build community and participate in a group healthy activity. Following the walk, Jazz at Lincoln Center will provide a free live concert at the museum, and tours will be available in English & Spanish. Panera Bread is donating 300 free sandwiches for the first 300 who register!

Jazz at Lincoln Center presents Jazz for Young People on Tour featuring the Camille Thurman Quartet. Jazz for Young People on Tour brings outstanding jazz artists and performances to NYC and the metropolitan area. This concert will illustrate the ideals of American democracy through the lens of America's greatest and most democratic art form "€” jazz.

Schedule of Activities

10am – Registration next to Unisphere, in front of the Queens Museum

11am – Walk begins, rain or shine! Together we will walk through Flushing Meadows Corona Park, beginning and ending our walk next to the Unisphere.

12pm – Free jazz performance in the Museum’s Main Atrium by Camille Thurman Quartet, courtesy of Jazz at Lincoln Center

12- 2pm  Family tours of the Museum

Camille Thurman, multi-talented saxophonist, flutist, vocalist, composer and educator, is acquiring an impressive list of accomplishments. Her lush, velvety, rich & warm sound on the tenor saxophone has been compared to tenor greats Gene Ammons and Stanley Turrentine. Camille's ability to sing 4 octaves and perform vocalese, has given her the capability to summon the sounds of Minnie Riperton, Ella Fitzgerald and Sarah Vaughan. An accomplished performer and composer, Camille has performed with Jazz and R&B greats Dr. Billy Taylor, Chaka Khan, Benny Golson, George Coleman, Dr. Lonnie Smith, Terri Lyne Carrington, Stephanie Mills, Russell Malone, Nicholas Payton,  George Benson, Yolanda Adams, Bebe Winans, Charli Persip, Valery Ponomarev, Lew Tabackin, Alicia Keys, India Arie,  Kenny Latimore, Dave Valentine , Anthony Hamilton, Eric Benet,  Brandy, SWV,  Ciara, Missy Elliot  and many others. Camille leads her own quartet, which has performed at the Kennedy Center, the International Women in Jazz Festival, the Super Jazz Ashdod Israel Festival, The Jazz Gallery and many other prominent jazz venues and festivals around the world.
