The People’s Guide to the Queens International

12.01.18, 1:00 pm

Queens Library at Flushing
41-17 Main Street, Flushing

The People’s Guide to the Queens International is a collaborative art project organized by Brian Droitcour and Christine Wong Yap on the occasion of the exhibition Queens International 2018: Volumes. The People’s Guide invites the public to write reviews of artworks at Queens Library branches and Queens Museum on the premise that anyone can be an art critic!

Join this writing workshop in response to Mo Kong’s installation Black Cloud, Thin Ice at Flushing Library, on view November 10, 2018 – December 8, 2018. Kong, who was born in northern China, has researched the migration patterns of bees and the business of importing and branding Chinese honey in the US, and uses related imagery in his art as a metaphor for his own feelings about community and belonging. What images would you use to describe how you have changed homes? What is the relationship between accepting a home and finding acceptance in a place? We’ll be posing questions like these and writing responses that will be published in zines on display at the Queens Museum, and online at thepeoplesguideqi.org.
