May Sumak!: Quichwa Film Showcase is a traveling event series featuring three days of Quechua/Kichwa film screenings and discussions throughout New York City (Manhattan, Bronx, & Queens). Included in this series will be a special preview of renowned indigenous filmmaker, Alberto Muenala's, groundbreaking film, Killa, the first feature-length drama made in Kichwa by Kichwas in Ecuador. Alberto will also be joining other numerous special guests for lively discussions following each day of screening.

About Quechua at NYU

Through a wide range of programs and events, the Center for Latin American and Caribbean Studies (CLACS) at New York University serves as a point of connection for scholars, students and members of the public who share an interest in Quechua languages and cultures. Scholars and students from around the world meet through CLACS, furthering research and study of Quechua, while online resources expand the scope of initiatives, increasing access to Quechua-related materials. Native speakers from the NYC metropolitan area as well as from the Andean region of South America regularly collaborate with the NYU community to support the diffusion, exploration and celebration of these indigenous languages.
