QI Artists Flux Factory present Flux Death Match “‘Ennial Spectacle”€

12.14.13, 7:00 pm

Flux Death Match is a feisty series of presidential-style debates organized by Flux Factory in which opinionated members of the art, tech, and political communities argue over hot button topics. During these performative events, experts have tangled over the artist’s role in Occupy Wall Street, the relevance of internet memes, arts funding, and strategies for intervening in public space. A problematic line of questioning, spontaneous quips, grisly “€œsmack downs,”€ and a punishing fog machine are the name of the game, but the final death knell comes from the audience.

In Flux Death Match: “€˜Ennial Spectacle, our panelists will converge at Queens Museum as part of the Queens International biennial to duke it out over the complex role of perennial art events in a globalized society and how they influence artistic production, consumption, and the construction of contemporary art history.

Panelists include Queens Museum Director Tom Finkelpearl, Artist Natalie Jereminjenko, and Ben Davis, author of 9.5 Theses on Art and Class, among others. Moderated by Christina Vassallo and Douglas Paulson.
