Oral History

Creating Our Archives

This workshop explores how community oral history projects can help us document and share the perspectives and histories we value. Participants will listen to other’s stories and perhaps share their own. Together, we will practice audio recording techniques and other skills that can be used to create our own oral history collections.

*Workshop instruction will primarily be in English, but oral histories can be recorded in any language*

Dates: Sundays October 20 and 27 (3 hours per session)

Time: 1:00 – 4:00 pm

Place: Queens Museum, Studio A

Educators:

Chloe Zimmerman is an artist, writer, and educator. Ben Kruse is a sound editor and audio engineer. Together, they collaborate on an oral history project with Janice Amaya and Jon Earle in conjunction with the New Sanctuary Coalition.
