Please join us on Saturday, August 10th from 3-5pm for the Opening Reception of La Vida es Bonita / Life is Beautiful: Community Organizing Programs Exhibition in the Queens Museum Community Partnership Gallery.
This exhibit presents some of the community organizing strategies and programs from 2018-2019 that help enable the Queens Museum to engage with many aspects of the lives of residents of the borough of Queens. Through these programs we create environments to support and welcome people of diverse abilities across race, class, language and immigration status into rich arts and cultural experiences, spreading our impact outside of the boundaries of the physical building and into the surrounding neighborhoods.
La Vida Es Bonita / Life is Beautiful features work from the following three programs and initiatives:
Corónate, a cultural celebration in Corona Plaza and at the Queens Museum thatshowcases the incredible talent in the Corona community, highlighting performances by local musical and dance groups.
BordeAndo, crochet and embroidery collective supported by the Queens Museum.
Communiversity for Inclusive Play, a program consisting of twelve learning sessions for twenty-one families and six public programs at the Playground for All Children in Flushing Meadows Corona Park, the first NYC playground designed with accessibility for all children.
