This single-session course introduces students to web design and programming through a creative lens. Students will learn the basics of html, css, and javascript as they create an abstract digital artwork. This course is ideal for creative minded individuals who are interested in how websites work. No prior programming experience is necessary, however, students should be familiar with the basics of using a computer and the internet. Students should also have a desire to explore the artistic possibilities of digital media.
Requirement: The seminar is offered to people with some knowledge of how to use the computer such as how to search and navigate the web.
Participants: The class will be taught in English with additional support for Korean and Spanish speakers. It should be offered at a local library since each student needs to have a computer. It is a single session seminar of 3 hours: 30-60 minutes on introduction and technical training, and 2 hours in practice and creating the individual works.
Seminar Instructor(s): Jeannine Han and Dan Riley are an artist duo living and working in Queens NY and have been collaborating since 2016. Their collaboration involves the use of film, sound, sculpture, and technology to explore the intersections of materiality and narrative. Jeannine has taught at Parsons, FIT, and Pratt. Dan has contributed work to many large scale projects as a software engineer.

El taller de Introducción a la web creativa tiene como objetivo enseñar a la comunidad las herramientas básicas que se usan para crear sitios web y cómo estas herramientas se pueden usar para hacer obras de arte.

Este curso de una sola sesión de 3 horas muestra el diseño web y la programación a través de una mirada creativa. Los participantes aprenderán conceptos básicos de html, css y javascript a medida que crean una obra de arte digital abstracta. Este curso es ideal para personas creativas interesadas en cómo funcionan los sitios web. No se necesita experiencia previa en programación, sin embargo, los estudiantes deben estar familiarizados con los conceptos básicos del uso de una computadora e Internet. Los estudiantes también deben tener el deseo de explorar las posibilidades artísticas de los medios digitales.
