Join Make the Road New York (MRNY)for a free community screening of Indivisible, a feature-length documentary film about the real people at the heart of our nation’s immigration debate.  Renata, Evelyn, and Antonio were young children when their parents brought them to the U.S. in search of a better life; they were teenagers when their mothers, fathers, and siblings were deported.  Today, they are known as Dreamers.  Indivisible takes place at a pivotal moment in their lives, as they fight for a pathway to citizenship and a chance to be reunited with their loved ones.  Frustrated with the stalled legislative process, the trio take matters into their own hands and petition for a special waiver that would allow them to leave the U.S to visit their families—and legally return.

With the future of immigration policies uncertain, the three do not know if their trips are a once in a lifetime experience, or the beginning of true family reunification.

About Antonio Alarcon
Antonio Alarcon was raised by his grandparents while his parents traveled throughout Mexico and finally to the U.S. in search of work.  Antonio joined his parents in the U.S. when he was 11, but his younger brother stayed in Mexico because the border crossing was too dangerous.  When Antonio’s grandparents passed away, his parents faced an impossible dilemma: leave one child alone in the U.S. or leave the other alone in Mexico.  They ultimately decided to “self-deport” and return to Mexico. Now 20, Antonio lives in New York City and is still undocumented.  When filming began, he had not seen his parents in two years.

Hilary Linder, Director & Producer, combines her knowledge in the fields of international development and humanitarian relief with her passion for non-fiction storytelling as the director and producer of Indivisible. Hilary is the founder and president of Kudzu Films, a production company dedicated to spreading social justice through film.

Acompañe a Make the Road New York (MRNY) para una proyección gratuita de Indivisble, un documental cinematográfico acerca de las personas en el corazón del debate inmigratorio de esta nación. Renata, Evelyn y Antonio eran niños cuando sus padres los trajeron a los Estados Unidos en busca de una mejor vida. Ellos eran adolescentes cuando sus padres y hermanos/nas fueron deportados. Hoy, se los conoce como Soñadores. Indivisible representa un momento crucial de sus vidas, ya que ellos luchan por un camino hacia la ciudadanía y una oportunidad de reunirse con sus seres queridos. Frustrados con el estancamiento del proceso legislativo, el trio toma el asunto en sus propias manos y hacen una petición para una exoneración especial que les permita dejar los Estados Unidos para visitar a sus familias y regresar legalmente.

Con el futuro incierto de la política inmigratoria, los tres no saben si sus viajes son una experiencia única, o el comienzo de una reunificación con sus familias. El documental será presentado por Juan Valdez, Director Ejecutivo de MRNY y seguido por una sesión de preguntas y respuestas a cargo de Antonio Alarcón, miembro de MRNY. El documental esta producido en inglés y Español con subtítulos en Español.

Acerca de Antonia Alarcón

Antonio Alarcón fue criado por sus abuelos mientras sus padres viajaban a lo largo de México y finalmente a los Estados Unidos en busca de trabajo. Antonio se unió con sus padres en los Estados Unidos a la edad de 11 años y su hermano permaneció en México ya que el cruce por la frontera era muy peligroso. Cuando fallecieron los abuelos de Antonio, sus padres enfrentaron un gran dilema: el de dejar un hijo solo en los Estados Unidos o un hijo solo en México. Al final decidieron salir de los Estados Unidos para regresar a México. Antonio actualmente tiene 20 años de edad, vive en la ciudad de Nueva York y es indocumentado. Cuando empezó la filmación, él no había visto a sus padres en dos años.
