MIXdesign is a New York-based think tank and design consultancy dedicated to creating design
recommendations and prototypes that respond to the needs of marginalized individuals whom
architects, interior designers and clients have long overlooked.

We collaborate with a wide range of institutional and commercial clients to address the spatial
consequences of diversity and inclusion. Our initiatives work to make everyday building types
including restrooms, university campuses, and art museums accessible and welcoming for all,
including for people of different ages, cultures, disabilities, genders, and religions.

Our MIXmuseum initiative creates design recommendations that reimagine art museums as
barrier-free places that provide an inclusive experience for all visitors and staff. In 2020, we
received a grant from the Institute of Museum and Library Services to work with Queens
Museum on “Central Atrium for All”, a project that reimagines the building through an inclusive
design lens, in a participatory design process with Queens residents.
