Gala Raffle

An exhibition space transformed into a temporary dining venue. Packed around white clothed dining tables with gray dining chairs, community members are dressed in casual/formal wear, vary in racial backgrounds, and range from young adults to elders. The room is humming with energy and everyone has their hands raised enthusiastically.

Angelo Baque 

 

Born and raised in Queens, New York, Angelo Baque rose to prominence as the Brand Director for Supreme, where he spent ten years. Following his successful run, Baque departed to establish Baque Creative, a boutique creative agency, and Awake New York, a clothing label that encapsulates the spirit of New York and can be found at retailers such as Dover Street Market, Patta, Union Los Angeles and more. In partnership with photographer Shaniqwa Jarvis and agency Something Special Studios, Baque established Social Studies, a digitally-driven, multi-day experience that unites artists and brands via community-driven programming. In 2021, Baque announced the launch of Angelo Baque Studios, a creative venture for Baque to focus on solo projects.

 

Sable Elyse Smith 

 

Sable Elyse Smith is an interdisciplinary artist, writer, and educator based in New York. Using video, sculpture, photography, and text, she points to the carceral, the personal, the political, and the quotidian to speak about a violence that is largely unseen, and potentially imperceptible. Her work has been featured at MoMA Ps1, New Museum, The Studio Museum in Harlem, JTT gallery and numerous others. Smith has received awards from Creative Capital, Fine Arts Work Center, the Queens Museum, Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture, Rema Hort Mann Foundation, the Franklin Furnace Fund, Louis Comfort Tiffany Foundation and Art Matters. She is currently Assistant Professor of Visual Art at Columbia University.

Salome Asega 

 

Salome Asega is an artist and researcher whose practice celebrates dissensus and multivocality. She is currently a Technology Fellow in the Ford Foundation’s Creativity and Free Expression program area. Salome is also the co-host of speculative talk show Hyperorpia: 20/30 Vision on bel-air radio, and a director of POWRPLNT, a digital art collaboratory in Bushwick. Salome has participated in residencies and fellowships with Eyebeam, New Museum, The Laundromat Project, and Recess Art. She has exhibited and given presentations at the 11th Shanghai Biennale, Performa, EYEO, and the Brooklyn Museum. Salome received her MFA from Parsons at The New School in Design and Technology where she also teaches.

 

Shaniqwa Jarvis 

 

Shaniqwa Jarvis is an artist known for combining a modern fashion aesthetic with sensitive and emotional portraiture. She captures vivid reality across a wide variety of subjects that always appear to be an extension of herself in images that speak to raw, disparate feelings imbued with a deep sparkling optimism. Jarvis has executed large scale portrait projects and exhibits in London, Tokyo, Los Angeles and New York. She co created Social Studies, a experiential retail pop up focusing on connecting the youth to creators through curated programming. She has released a range of creative products with companies like Adidas, The Standard Hotels Group, SNS and Supreme.  Jarvis has released her first book, a collection of work in a new, limited run, self-titled debut. Shaniqwa Jarvis, hardbound at 160 pages, delves into Jarvis’ archive of photography and combines editorial and personal work spanning two decades.

Mattos Paschal is a Senior Sale Coordinator at Christie’s Auction House, where she has managed the Collection of Pierre Durand and Andre Leon Talley among Antiquities, Post-War and Contemporary Art and other auctions. Before working at Christie’s, she received her Masters in Art  from New York University and a Bachelor’s in Art from Wake Forest University, both focusing on Contemporary Feminist Art from America and Iran. When not in New York, she calls Greenville, South Carolina home.

A Queens native and host of Righteous Eats, Jaeki has invited 5 Queens-based restaurants to create flavourful bites inspired by the Borough’s iconic cultures and cuisines for the evening’s cocktail hour. A digital creator and wearer of multiple hats, Jaeki is a creator from New York City, whose mission is to champion POC-owned small businesses, entrepreneurs and cultures from around the world.

Evelia’s Tamales

In 2000, Evelia Coyotzi left Mexico to find a job in New York. After the McDonalds near the World Trade Center where she worked closed after 9/11, she began to make tamales at home, in Queens, to sell from a shopping cart on the street corner. In January, 2020, she took out a lease on a storefront half a mile from her cart’s usual spot. This last March, she finally opened it.

Nick Hakim

 

Nick Hakim has no filter. Similar to the way that the musician carries a casual conversation, he overflows with a creative energy that effortlessly pours out of him. Since 2013, he has demonstrated that his talent can’t be contained within the restrictions of categorization. Hakim’s critically-acclaimed debut album, Green Twins, solidified his status as a versatile artist pushing the boundaries of genre and embracing fluidity between R&B, soul, indie, psychedelia and more. From there, he proceeded to link up with the likes of Erykah Badu, Anderson .Paak, BADBADNOTGOOD, Mac DeMarco, Onyx Collective and many others. He is currently on tour promoting his most recent studio album release COMETA.

Afterparty

Skype Williams (Tony Jackson) works mainly within art, music and production. His debut EP ‘Sorry I’m Late’ was released in 2019. He has produced the runway music for Christopher John Rogers’ NYFW show since 2018, as well as runway music for Khiry, Third Crown, House of Aama, and CFGNY’s debut collection. He has produced music for exhibitions at Artist’s Space, and 47 Canal, has DJed events for A24, David Zwirner, Hood by Air, Papi Juice, La Creole (Paris), Vaquera, Christopher John Rogers, Brandon Blackwood, USM, PIN-UP Magazine, and at MoMA PS1, Performance Space, DEPOP, The Standard Hotel, The Ace Hotel New Orleans, The Ace Hotel Brooklyn, Studio Museum of Harlem, The Whitney Museum, and more.

 

BEARCAT is a London-born New York-based artist.

As a DJ, producer, and performance artist, she also describes herself as a dancefloor therapist that aims to permeate healing through music as she, in turn, heals herself throughout this exchange on dancefloors around the world. BEARCAT’s sets are best described as transcendental, captivating, pounding and eclectic at their core. Known for blending multiple genres into one set her musical exploration touches on everything from jungle, drum’n’bass, techno, rap, to dancehall, tribal house, experimental to hardcore and punk.

This incantation of uncompromising, pulsating rhythm and bass has brought her to perform around the world and at prestigious music festivals such as Pitchfork, Afropunk and Panorama to name a few.
