Building connected communities for a brighter future
The Queens Museum remains deeply committed to supporting our communities and takes seriously our mission to leverage the power of art as a tool for global understanding. All of the money raised through the Resilience Fund will ensure the Museum remains accessible and responsive to the people that rely on us
Looking back over the last year, we are incredibly proud of what Queens Museum staff and community partners have been able to accomplish:
– We removed entrance fees for all visitors in September 2020;
– We reached over 50,000 people both in person and in their homes through virtual exhibitions, programming, and multilingual learning resources;
– And, in June 2020 we opened and continue to host a weekly Cultural Food Pantry in partnership with La Jornada, providing a week’s worth of fresh and shelf stable food, art supplies, and onsite socially-distanced art-making opportunities for over 21,000 families.This year we launched a new program that strengthens connections with our communities and creates new possibilities for culture, kinship, and mutual support. The Year of Uncertainty (YoU) invites Six Artists-In-Residence, nine Community Partners, and twelve Co-Thinkers to work together with Queens Museum staff and stakeholders to reimagine the Queens Museum.
