Event - The Image Out Of The Screen

The Image Out Of The Screen

05.06.17, 1:00 pm

Come to learn about materializing images by projecting on objects, space and the body!

Through this workshop participants will learn how to give volume, texture, and new meanings to moving images through projection mapping. This technique allows a video to be projected on common 3D objects, bodies, and architecture and turn them into display surfaces. Projection mapping has been widely used in the theater, dance, performance, visual art, interactive art, and architecture fields and give new possibilities to video based creations. The instructor, Thomas Israel, will give a presentation about his own work in relation to the subject, then guide the participants to experiment with various equipment and materials. Israel will also share the resources and websites for participants to continue their research afterward.
The Brussels-based multimedia artist, Thomas Israel, proposes immersive & interactive works in the form of video installations, sculptures and body-mapping performances. Having begun his career in theatre, his atypical approach to digital arts revolves around the themes of the body, time and the subconscious. His work has been shown at the MoMA in New York, the Society for Arts and Technology in Montreal, Le Musée des Abattoirs in Toulouse and at many festivals, exhibitions, galleries and museums around the world since 2005. He is represented by Charlot Gallery in Paris.

This workshop is open to everyone. No prior knowledge necessary.
