Event - Slow Dance

Slow Dance

11.10.24, 12:30 pm – 4:00 pm

Josephine Cho.

Slow Dance (work-in-progress) is an interdisciplinary theatre performance exploring the experience of living and moving with chronic illness. It blends personal narratives with research insights, movement with stillness, and words with silence. By delving into the complexities and nuances in the shift of identities and adjustments of the day-to-day, it invites people to reflect on chronic illness as part of the essential human experience.

RSVP is required.

The Square Theatre is an artist collective co-founded by immigrant artists Jing Dong and Jiawen Hu. They use research-based and socially-engaged performance to create public space for connection and conversation. Through a devising process that invites community participation, they create interdisciplinary performances telling real people’s real stories. Their recent projects include A Sample of Immigrant Life, Travel As, Tape Art Workshop, and Slow Dance. Their works have been supported by The Performance Project, Korean Art Forum, LMCC’s Creative Engagement, Queens Arts Fund, and NYSCA.
