Calling all artists, activists, and concerned people of New York!

In solidarity with the J20 General Strike, and in preparation for the January 21 marches in New York, DC, and elsewhere, Queens Museum will close for the day to host an afternoon for the production of signs, posters, banners, and buttons in preparation for upcoming marches and actions. Activities will include silkscreen printing with Shoestring Press and Mobile Print Power, risograph printing with instructor Paul John and EFA Robert Blackburn Printmaking Workshop, and artwork contributed by Counter Type (Annica Lydenberg and Arianna Orland), Sarah Gottesdiener, Marisa Jahn, Gregory Sholette, and Jeff Warren and Caroline Woolard, along with opportunities to work in other media. A livestream of FutureClown’s Inaugural Address, a performance by artist Rachel Mason at LACE (Los Angeles Contemporary Exhibitions), will be on view in the atrium. FutureClown, the internet avatar of the artist, presents a real-time lipsynched inaugural speech which matches that of the incoming president.

We invite our community to join us in producing graphic materials that address the causes in which they are most deeply invested and aid in the further distribution of these signs across the 5 boroughs and beyond.

Materials will be available to the public free of charge, as will posters produced by Interference Archive and Mobile Print Power. Light snacks will be served.

¡Llamado para todos los artistas, activistas y personas comprometidas en Nueva York!

En solidaridad con la huelga general del J20 (20 de Enero) y en preparación para las marchas del 21 de enero en Nueva York, DC y otras regiones, el Museo de Queens estará cerrado al público durante todo el transcurso de ese día, para así utilizar sus instalaciones  durante la tarde para elaborarcarteles, afiches, banderas e insignias (chapas/pines)  para las próximas marchas y manifestaciones. Las actividades incluirán: serigrafía a cargo de Shoestring Press y Mobile Print Power, impresión risográfica (duplicador digital) con el instructor Paul John y un taller de grabado a cargo de EFA Robert Blackburn Printmaking Workshop asimismo  contaremos con la contribución de materiales artísticos producidos por Counter Type (Annica Lydenberg y Arianna Orland), Sarah Gottesdiener, Marisa Jahn, Gregory Sholette y Jeff Warren y Caroline Woolard,  además de tener la oportunidad de utilizar materiales adicionales. En el atrio se exhibirá un video de la Investidura del Presidente de FutureClown, una actuación de la artista Rachel Mason en LACE (Los Angeles Contemporary Exhibitions). FutureClown, el avatar de internet del artista, presenta un discurso inaugural en tiempo real que coincide con el del presidente entrante.

Invitamos a toda nuestra comunidad a sumarse a la producción de estos materiales gráficos que abordan las causas en la que todos estamos profundamente comprometidos y preocupados. También los convocamos a que apoyen con la distribución de estos carteles en los 5 barrios de Nueva York  y más allá de estas fronteras.

Todos los materiales y también pósteres de Interference Archive y Mobile Print Power estarán disponibles al público en forma gratuita. Se ofrecerá refrescos y snacks a todos los asistentes.
