Join us Thursday evenings, 7 – 10pm on the lawn in front of the Queens Museum for Passport Thursdays, our annual outdoor international film series.
This year we’ve selected a series of films that explore the classic road movie genre – roadtrips, travel (mis)adventures or life-changing journeys, this theme resonates across cultures and ages. Over the course of five Thursdays, the featured films will take us to India, Ecuador, Ghana, Colombia, and the Dominican Republic.
Come early to get your body moving with Masala Bhangra: Bollywood dance workout classes from 7 – 7:45pm, then get cozy on our picnic blankets for the feature film starting at 8pm.
*In case of rain, all programs will take place inside the museum!

Vishnu, a restless young man, itches to escape his father’s faltering hair oil business. As his ticket to freedom, he offers to drive an antique Chevy across the desert to the sea, where it has been sold to a local museum. As he sets off, he discovers he’s not merely transporting a battered vehicle, but an old touring cinema.
SPECIAL PERFORMANCE: Masala Bhangra
To kick off our first film in the series and our weekly Bollywood dance workouts preceding the film, this Thursday features a special performance by the Masala Bhangra Performance team. The performance will be showcasing the energetic Bhangra and Bollywood dance forms. Bhangra hails from The North part of India. Bollywood is all about glitz and glamour and is India’s Hollywood! People from all kinds of backgrounds come together every year to learn choreography from Sarina Jain. They are real people with real lives who just love to dance! Come watch them and get inspired to join the Bhangra classes for all five Passport Thursday!
