Join us in welcoming poet KC Trommer in this one-day preview of her forthcoming work Paragones, a collection that responds to works of art by female-identifying artists, including Hilma af Klint, Ruth Asawa, Lee Bontecou, Louise Bourgeois, Hannah Höch, Betsy Kenyon, Nina Katchadourian, Edmonia Lewis, Agnes Martin, Ana Mendieta, Mrinalini Mukerjee, Alice Neel, Deborah Roberts, Harmonia Rosales, Mierle Laderman Ukeles, Kara Walker, and Francesca Woodman.

Moving beyond the ekphrastic tradition which centers on a descriptive account of an object, Trommer’s poems are formal, historical, and personal responses to a variety of individual works.

After a short reading, KC will sit down with author and New York Times art critic Will Heinrich to discuss the collection as a whole and to consider what art and poetry have to learn from one another.
