Celebra con danza, música, comida y rituales el altar decorado y construido por la comunidad de Corona. Este año el altar lo dedicamos a memoria de nuestros seres queridos difuntos y también a quienes perdieron la vida por la violencia racial o dedicaron su trabajo a luchar contra el racismo.
Organizado por el Museo de Queens en coordinación con IMI Corona y miembros de la comunidad de Queens:

+Melvis Santa & ASHEDI de rumba cubana, expresión musical conectada a los ancestros y los orishas
+DANZAS ANCESTRALES de herencia Yoruba, parte del culto de los Orishas, por Yesenia Selier
+ÑUKANCHIK LLACTA WAWAKUNA danza ecuatoriana que fortalece la identidad de la excelencia en las primeras generaciones de inmigrantes andinos
+MUJERES EN MOVIMIENTO con bailoterapia y ritmos mexicanos.
+SUMAK WARMIS grupo de danza de mujeres de los Andes
+DJ Sonido Chichadélico con lo mejor de la cumbia

TALLERES Y JUEGOS

+Taller de confección de PIÑATAS con motivos del Día de los Muertos
+Taller de CROCHET y BORDADO
+Juegos inclusivos para todos los niños y niñas
+Pintura para el rostro (painted faces)

+GENEROSITY acción participativa que genera consciencia sobre el cuidado del medio ambiente por el artista Dulce Pinzon
+SOUL FOOD de Latinoamérica, para aprender a usar frutas y verduras del farmer’s market y degusta platos que puedes hacer en estas fiestas venideras

Come celebrate the Day of the Dead! There will be food, dancing, singing, education, and rituals to celebrate our altar, decorated and built by members of the Corona community. This year the altar is to commemorate the lives of those who have fought against the racial violence.

Organized by the Queens Museum in collaboration with IMI Corona and residents of Queens.

MUSIC AND DANCE
• Melvis Santa & ASHEDI, and Cuban rumba genre of music traditionally performed by workers of African descent in streets and courtyards
• ANCESTRAL DANCES of Yoruba ascendancy, part of the Orishas cult or santería, by Yesenia Selier
• ÑUKANCHIK LLACTA WAWAKUNA an Ecuadorian dance group that uses dance to strengthen their identity and the excellence of their first Andean immigrants’ generation
• SUMAK WARMIS all-female dance group from the Andean region
• MUJERES EN MOVIMIENTO bailoterapia and Mexican rhythms with Vero Ramirez
• DJ Sonido Chichadélico with the best cumbia!

ART AND COOKING WORKSHOPS
• Build your own PIÑATA with Valeria Reyes
• CROCHET and EMBROIDERY workshops by Mercedes Ojeda y
Carmen Tercero
• Printing by MOBILE PRINT POWER

• GENEROSITY, a participatory action that promotes awareness about the environment by Artist Dulce Pinzon
• Latin America SOUL FOOD , learn new recipes using vegetables and fruits of the farmer’s markets in the area
