Please join us on Sunday, April 11th, 1-4pm at Bowne Playground in Flushing, Queens for No Longer Invisible – a multi-racial vigil and community gathering grounded in art, healing and solidarity for the Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) community in the wake of anti-Asian violence. 

No Longer Invisible is led and designed by Asian American women, creatives, grassroots & community organizations doing direct work in Queens and NYC. Join us to grieve, heal and honor our heritage in Flushing – a community that has been disproportionately impacted by the pandemic and by Anti-Asian violence this year, and yet has received little support and attention. 

Attendees will be invited to participate and partake in an altar and installation, healing stations and circles, community art projects, as well as enjoy local food and performers as part of the program. Organizers will also be collecting shelf-stable donations on-site for the Flushing Community Fridge.

Collective Banner Making Workshop at the Queens Museum

On behalf of the Queens Museum, artist duo Jaclyn Reyes and Xenia Diente of Little Manila Queens Bayanihan Arts will lead a collective banner making project for this vigil. Join us at the Queens Museum on Saturday, April 10th, from 4-7pm and at the vigil in Bowne Playground on Sunday, April 11th, 1-4pm to contribute to the production of the collectively elaborated banner and/or to make your own personalized signs to speak out against xenophobia, racism and violence against Asian Pacific American communities. Families and people of all ages are welcome!

No Longer Invisible is presented by OCA-NY, MinKwon Center for Community Action (Year of Uncertainty Community Partner), Blasian March, Queens Museum, Wide Awakes, For Freedoms, Caribbean Equality Project (Year of Uncertainty Community Partner), and Queens Public Library.

This event is free and open to the public. Wearing a mask and social distancing is required. Free hand sanitizer, face shields, masks, and other PPE are provided.
