CALLING ALL GEOGRAPHICAL GEEKS AND NEW YORK KNOW-IT-ALLS! Come to the recently reopened Queens Museum on Friday, March 7th from 7-10pm (doors open 6pm) to participate in the world’s only geographical trivia-based game night at the world’s largest panorama “ The Panorama of the City of New York!
The Panorama Challenge involves questions about assorted city landmarks, bridges, neighborhoods, parks and more. Identify the most locations and your team will have their name etched on the trophy at the Queens Museum! Each location will be pinpointed by one of the Levys’ Unique New York team (New York’s First Family of Tour Guides) who will be wielding laser pointers.
Participants will compete in teams of 10 (or so) and will play either as a Panorama Challenger or Panorama Pro team. Challenger teams are first-timers or those who may not have dedicated their lives to the study of our great city. Pros are returning contestants who are die-hard students of our city’s hidden corners.
Returning for his fourth year as Quizmaster, Jonathan Turer has devised 30 all new questions! Some of this year’s categories include: “I heard it on the 1010 WINS traffic report” and “It happened 15/20/25 Years Ago” and “It Happened 30/40/50 Years Ago” So listen to the radio and study up on your history! Also this year, TWICE as many MUSIC clues as last year! And again this year, Panorama Pros will have to answer an extra challenge for each regular question. That’s right, Pros answer a mind-melting 60 questions total.
During the first intermission, teams will have a chance to gain extra credit in a special music quiz in honor of the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony in Brooklyn this Spring.
Our panel of All-Star Judges include the Manhattan Borough Historian Michael Miscione, the Dean of NYC Tour Guides Lee Gelber; NYC Know-It-All Andy Sydor & Webmaster and Author of Forgotten-NY Kevin Walsh. All four will be on hand to help adjucate and to remind contestants of our Number One Rule: NO QUIBBLING! Additional support provided by NYC Trivia League. Post-quiz, whilst we wait for the All-Star Judges to tally the scores, there will be an electrifying performance by Batala NYC-– New York’s ONLY all-woman Brazilian drum corps!
The suggested admission fee of $15 with all proceeds going to support the City Reliquary Museum in Williamsburg, Brooklyn dedicated to collecting NYC ephemera. A free shuttle will be traveling between the Museum and underneath the the Mets-Willets Point 7 stop, both before and after the event (630-1030pm).
