A fascinating investigation, this film is both a fictional story taking place in today’s Cuba, and a documentary about the glory of Cuban Revolution utilizing unique archival material from Cuban television. The film tells of a never used nuclear power plant built with Soviet technology in the heart of Cuba. With construction having been halted by the fall of the Soviet Union, the towers of the plant and blocks of workers’ housing become a backdrop for the film. The audience witnesses the drama of three generations of men living in this place, where all that remains is the nostalgic memories of a future that never persisted.

This short film subtly employs visual and auditory magical realism A small provincial town’s school orchestra is taken by surprise when they stumble upon a telecommunication antenna that was abandoned in the Colombian tropics—a symbol of failed progress. In 1968, the United States had sold this impressive equipment to the Latin American country as a sign of technological promise. Now, it has become an archaeological relic of the future.

Con una fascinante investigación de archivo, la película cubana es una historia ficcional de la Cuba actual y, a la vez, un documental sobre las glorias de la Revolución Cubana que utiliza material único de archivo de la televisión de Cuba. La película trata sobre una base de energía nuclear, construida en el corazón de Cuba con tecnología de la Unión Soviética, la cual nunca fue inaugurada debido a la caída del régimen soviético. Los restos de esta construcción detenida: las torres de la planta, las paredes de las casas de los trabajadores, sirven como escenario de este filme.
