Folk Colombia “Colombia Country of Festivals Celebrating Independence”

The FolkCOLOMBIA School of Dance and Music brings to the New York City community a cultural event that showcases the Dance and Music school’s first semester, a presentation of our students.

Featuring master teachers Moris Cañate, Karla Flórez, Rafael Leal and Rubén Dario Mejia, they will present a program of choreography and music joined by five folkloric groups: Orquidea de OroOsiris Bárcenas and her KidsLos Viajeros de la DanzaKarla Flórez School and Bulla en el Barrio. Together they will show the richness of Colombia dance and musical traditions, highlighting traditional Cumbia from the Atlantic Coast and Bambuco from the Andean regions of Colombia.

Event will be in the Queens Museum Atrium, with a dance workshop and performances by special guests encourage audience participation!
