For the second time, El Sistema students in the NYC area will get together for a day of learning and practicing. This year the work will focus on Marquez’ “Conga del Fuego Nuevo” and Bizet’s “Les Toreadors”. Guests include UpBeatNYC from the Bronx, and WHIN Project, from Washington Heights. They will present a public rehearsal concert from 1:15-2pm.
Event organized by The Corona Youth Music Project (Nucleo Corona) which was founded in 2010 in Corona (Queens, NY) to empower youth, fight poverty, and promote social inclusion through music education and performance. It is the first organization in Queens that is part of “El Sistema,” a global movement of music for social change. Through their participation in the Orchestra, children are given the opportunity to become valued assets to the Corona community.
