How can we honor Queer and Trans joy, rage, love, grief, confusion, and connection? The Day of Art & Action: Honoring the International Day Against Homophobia, Transphobia, and Biphobia seeks to amplify QTBIPOC artists and the civic issues our community faces.

Through performances, portrait photography, and ​​tabling that centers civic engagement and health initiatives, this celebration honors the labor that Queer and Trans People of Color have done to advance civil rights and keep our communities safe, fed, and housed.

The Day of Art & Action at the Queens Museum is hosted by Themme, and will feature performances by Junior Mintt, Laura Martinez, Daniela Soler, Clints Pavelus, and Jahlisa A. Ross! The day will kick-off with remarks by Qween Jean in relation to artist Glori Tuitt’s mural Black, Trans, & Alive (Qweens Song) on the facade of the museum. Throughout the afternoon, attendees can interact with graphic backdrops designed by Jose Daniel Benitez, have their portrait taken by non-binary artist Jules Rose of Human Flower Productions, and learn more about the community organizing and civic engagement initiatives of our community partners.

BIPOC Queer and Trans artistry is not only essential to the livelihood of our own communities, but to the larger ecology of arts, culture, and activism in New York City. This afternoon acknowledges that continual work is still needed for true liberation of marginalized people globally.

Cross-language interpretation will be available in English and Spanish.

¿Cómo podemos honrar la alegría, la rabia, el amor, el dolor, la confusión y la conexión de los queer y trans? El Día de Arte y Acción: En honor al Día Internacional contra la Homofobia, la Transfobia y la Bifobia busca amplificar a los artistas QTBIPOC y los problemas cívicos que enfrenta nuestra comunidad.
