Dancing the Art with Lauren Hale Biniaris

Dancer Lauren Hale Biniaris and violinist and pianist Ben Kutner respond through movement and music to Mierle Laderman Ukeles: Maintenance Art. The artists will engage in a playful and exploratory improvisation inspired and informed by select pieces in the exhibit. The performance will also include a brief introductory talk and post-performance discussion.  All ages are welcome.

About the Performers:
Lauren Hale Biniaris is a New York City-based dance artist, yoga instructor, writing teacher and  poet. She attended Brown University as an undergraduate and holds an MFA in Dance from NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts.  Lauren has performed, taught, and  presented work in museums, schools, theaters and various venues throughout the country. Her work values collaboration, exploration, depth, and accessibility. She  has received support from the Puffin Foundation, Queens Council on the Arts, and Fractured Atlas and was the recipient of Brown University’s Weston Fine Arts Award. Ben Kutner is a New York City-based composer and music director. His work has recently appeared at the National Opera CenterDixon Place, St. Mark’s Church in NYC, Manhattan Movement & Arts Center, and Jack Crystal Theatre. Recent commissions include the Northern Dutchess Symphony Orchestra, Project 44 Dance, Mook Dance, New Parnassus, and Nocturne Theatre. Ben works across a range of genres including opera, ballet, modern dance, film, theater, chamber, and symphonic music. He is the Executive Artistic Director for the New Parnassus Ensemble.
