Collage Workshop: Our history, from the personal to the collective

“My story, Our story, from the personal to the collective” is a workshop in which the participants will learn about collage, its history and its impact. This course is free and all materials will be provided.

 

  • Dates: Thursdays 6, 13, 20 and 27 October 2022
  • Time: 5:30 PM to 7:30 PM
  • This is a free workshop but registration is required
  • All materials will be provided by the Queens Museum.
  • Location: Corona Public Library: 38-23 104th St, Queens, NY 11368
  • This workshop will be offered in Spanish.

Each session will begin with a brief audiovisual presentation regarding the history of collage and later we will do a practical work where the participants will develop a personal project that reflects on their own history, using materials, images and objects important in their daily lives. In the last session of the workshop we will reflect on our individual experiences during the course of the workshop and we will develop a collective work that includes each of these stories and experiences, developing group work that reflects on what experiences we have in common.

 

Educator: Catalina Schliebener Muñoz, is a South American visual artist born in Chile who works mainly with installation and collage. Her work draws on images, objects, and narratives associated with childhood and explores gender, sexuality, and class. Schliebener has a degree in Philosophy and a degree in Visual Arts from the University of Art and Social Sciences (ARCIS; Santiago, Chile).
