In this workshop, we review the most common elements that make up Botanical Art Painting in Watercolor to better understand this approach to painting. Then, week by week, we will learn the basic skills to approach Botanical Art in watercolor, either from a photo or from life. In the last week, we will focus on the creative forms of abstract interpretation of reality,  exacerbating free expression and developing one’s capacity for creation and aesthetic appreciation. 

This workshop is for adults in search of new forms of expression. No previous experience is  necessary.

The required materials are: 

1. Watercolor Paints (tubes or dry pan) 
2. Brushes. (3 round brushes for watercolor, numbers 2-4-8) 
3. Masking Tape 
4. Cold press watercolor paper block (300 lb (640 gsm)) 
5. Support Panel 
6. Palette 
7. Set watercolor pencils 
8. Paper towel 
9. Water container 

This is a very visual bilingual workshop; classes will be held in English and Spanish language.

Instructor: Guido Garaycochea is a visual artist born in Peru who lives and works in New York.  He has exhibited nationally and internationally. He has a Master’s degree in Art History and  Theory from the University of Chile, Master’s degree in Fine Arts from the School of Visual Arts  in New York. Garaycochea works as the New New Yorkers Program manager at the Queens  Museum and his art practice at The Elizabeth Foundation in New York.

Durante cuatro semanas veremos los elementos más comunes que componen el Arte Botánico  en Acuarela para asi poder entenderlo y aprender a pintarlo. El objetivo de este taller es que  una vez que haya completado estas cuatro semanas de clases, tenga las habilidades básicas  pero lo más importante, la confianza para abordar el Arte Botánico en acuarela, ya sea a partir  de una foto o del natural y poder reinterpretar las formas de una manera creativa y artística,  exacerbando su libre expresión y desarrollando su propia capacidad estética. 

Este taller está dirigido a adultos en busca de nuevas formas de expresión. No es necesario  tener experiencia previa. 

Los materiales necesarios son: 

1. Pinturas de acuarela (tubos o sartén seca) 
2. Pinceles. (3 pinceles redondos para acuarela, números 2-4-8) 
3. Cinta adhesiva 
4. Bloque de papel de acuarela de prensado en frío (300 lb (640 gsm)) 
5. Panel de soporte 
6. Paleta 
7. Juego de lápices de acuarela 
8. Toalla de papel 
9. Recipiente para el agua 

Este es un taller bilingüe y muy visual, las clases se impartirán en inglés y español.
