Event - Black History Month Performance

Black History Month Performance

02.13.19, 2:00 pm

Please join us for a public performance developed by the students of local school IS61, at 2pm on Wednesday Feb 13th.

For the Black History Month Unit, which is a 4 month unit, the students of IS61 study Alvin Ailey, Ethiopian & West African dance, hip hop, Motown, as well as African American choreographers. Using the lens of dance and choreography they learn about and embody critical moments and movements in black history. This year the students proposed to present their dances and share their research on the impact of Black culture on American culture, with a final performance at the Queens Museum.

The performance will take place in the Unisphere Gallery, on the 2nd floor.
