Please join the QM Collections team and three Terra Foundation Fellows, who have recently catalogued photographs in the QM art collection in service of a forthcoming exhibition, to discuss how we can reimagine “American Art” in Queens, New York, the most diverse borough in the world.

About Us: Regarding American Art and the Queens Museum Collection is an opportunity to share your perspective. Over the last four months, the Terra Fellows have poured over photographs with the intention of building an exhibition that speaks to the Queens community. The role of the artist in their community, memory’s influence on interpretation, and conceptions of “home” surfaced in our discussion. What is “American art” in a place defined by hybrid identities and multiculturalism?

Please join us to hear more about the exhibition, share your perspectives on American art, and discuss how we might redefine American art in our own local context.
