The International Panorama Council (IPC) is the international organization of panorama specialists which is committed to supporting the heritage and conservation of the few existing heritage panoramas dating from the 19th and early 20th century, and the promotion of knowledge and awareness of the panorama phenomenon, including its current relevance and development.

The 26th International Panorama Conference will focus on the theme (RE)Thinking The Panorama, with illustrated presentations by select experts on this topic. The theme explores the criteria that contributed to the panorama’s original definition in an effort to understand how it has affected contemporary media art forms and visual culture today.

Program highlights will include a book launch presentation of a Queens Museum publication THE PANORAMA HANDBOOK: Thoughts and Visions On and Around the Queens Museum’s Panorama of the City of New York, (Click here to see the book under construction (PDF)), and a round-table discussion of panoramas between presenters and Queens Museum representatives, a tour of the Museum of the Moving Image, a behind the scenes tour of the Panorama of the City of New York, and much more. Click here for the full Panorama Conference 2017 Program (PDF).
