New New Yorkers Senior Oral History Workshop: Sharing Our Stories

08.12.21

How can we encourage our senior communities to leave a lasting trace of their stories through oral history?

This week, our New New Yorkers program hosted a two-part bilingual oral history workshop in collaboration with Queens Community House. Members of senior adult centers were invited to the Queens Museum to learn about discovering, researching, and creating audio-based content using standard podcasting equipment as well as smartphones.

Participants were prompted to write a short story in either Spanish or English and then had the opportunity to record their stories on-site.

Stay tuned to learn more about the personal histories that were shared and documented during this workshop!
