Queens Museum Joins NYC’s Inaugural Teen Arts Week

May 13-19

03.11.19

Queens Museum is excited to join 92Y and organizations across NYC for the first-ever citywide celebration of the arts for teens, by teens!

During Teen Arts Week, dozens of arts organizations will offer FREE classes, performances, music jams, poetry slams, art-making, films, career workshops and more. Teens will be able to gain hands-on experience, engage with professionals and explore pathways to employment in creative arts fields. The week was initiated by 10 Teen Producers at 92Y who will hold a Teen Arts Week Youth Summit Wed May 15, 4-6 pm at 92Y. All events for Teen Arts Week are free to students 14 + with a valid school ID, and educators are invited to bring student groups.

At the Queens Museum teens are invited to share poetry, perform music and speak their minds at our Open Mic event. We’ll also be facilitating a collaborative art-making workshop where participants will be able to create an artwork inspired by our Mundos Alternos: Art and Science Fiction in the Americas exhibition. Participants will explore issues of immigration, borders, global citizenship, aliens and alternate worlds through this workshop.
