QI Artist Lynley Bernstein’s Fishing for the Elusive Snakehead, a 2.5-hour guided fishing trip in search for the infamous Snakehead fish identified by the City authority to inhabit in waterways in Flushing Meadows Corona Park. Once caught, it must be submitted to the City. Gears and Baits provided.

2 – 2:15pm
QI Artist from the Bulgarian Collaborative, Milena Deleva‘s Smuggle Gobbledycook Book Crossing & Literary Flash Mob, a multilingual book exchange and public reading event.

2 – 4 pm
Poets in the Galleries: Stephen Motika. Stephen Motika is the editor of Tiresias: The Collected Poems of Leland Hickman (2009) and the author of the poetry chapbooks Arrival and At Mono (2007) and In the Madrones (2011). His first book, Western Practice, will be published by Alice James Books in April 2012. Recent work has appeared in At Length, The Brooklyn Review, Eleven Eleven, The Boog City Reader 4, and The Poetry Project Newsletter. A 2010-2011 Lower Manhattan Cultural Council Workspace Resident, he is the program director at Poets House and the publisher of Nightboat Books.

QI artist, Nitin Mukul‘s video screening Crater with a score and live performance by Leyna Marika Papach

4 – 5 pm
QI artist Richard Garet‘s Mnemonics: for Space Invaders, a live performance to create 8.1-channel surround-audio environment in the museum’s new wing’s 50,000 sq. ft. space

7 – 10 pm
Queens Multimedia Poetry Event & Book Launch curated by Queens Poet Laureate Paolo Javier with Poet Gabriele Tinti presents his new book of epic poetry All Over, an ode to boxing as read by him and celebrated Queens actor and boxer, Burt Young, and screening of a new poetry film by Michele Civetta of Quintessence Film. Musician and Writer Franklin Bruno and surprise guests will read and perform from his new book The Accordion Repertoire. Followed by book-signing and light refreshments.

QI artist Kevin Beasley‘s From Ashy to Classy Mix I (Valley of Ashes), an aural work created in the fields of Flushing Meadows Corona Park, incorporating field recordings and sound from archival films of the 1939 and 1964 World’s Fairs

Pedro Reyes: The People’s United Nations (pUN)

Tours every half hour from 12:30 to 4:30pm. Online sign-up starts November 1.

pUN brings together 193 citizen representatives of the 193 members of the (real) United Nations for games and discussion over the course of two days. Guided tours offer an exciting opportunity to discover pUN Headquarters and include a behind-the-scenes view of the Organization at work. Exhibitions feature sculptural displays on important topics on the pUN agenda, such as peace, dialogue, disarmament and sustainability. Tours will be conducted by trained pUN volunteers.

Visitors may also view pUN proceedings from designated areas on the Museum’s first and second floors. No sign-up necessary.
